2025 Ford Bronco vs. Jeep Wrangler
The 2025 Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler feature rugged looks and retro designs that pay homage to the heritage of these iconic off-roaders. They’re both available in a variety of trims with a choice of engines to suit every off-road adventurer’s needs. They also come with many packages and options to allow you to personalize your vehicle just the way you want.
For 2025, the Bronco is offered in seven trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Heritage Edition, Outer Banks, Badlands, Stroppe Edition, and Raptor trim levels. The all-new range-topping Stroppe Edition is specialized for desert racing, with tri-color paintwork and unique badging inspired by the Baja racers of the 1960s and 70s.
The 2025 Wrangler, meanwhile, is available in six trims: the Sport, Sport S, Willys, Rubicon, Sahara, and Rubicon X trims. While there aren’t any new trims in this lineup, there are many upgrades to look forward to.
Design and Aesthetics
Both the Bronco and Wrangler have the rugged looks and features you’d expect from off-roading vehicles. You can choose from two- or four-door configurations, both with removable doors and roofs, for true wind-in-your-hair adventures. The Wrangler adds a fold-flat windshield, but you could end up with a face full of bugs.
These vehicles’ high ground clearance and generous approach, breakover, and departure angles enable their superb obstacle-avoiding, rock-crawling, and water-fording capabilities. While both of these vehicles are inspired by historic models, the Bronco has a more contemporary aesthetic. The Wrangler has continued to bring advanced off-road technology features, but its appearance stays rooted in the past.
Performance and Capability
Power options for the Bronco start with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that delivers 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque via a standard seven-speed manual transmission or optional 10-speed automatic. Standard in the Stroppe trim and available for some other models is a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 that makes 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Under the Raptor’s hood is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 generating 418 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque.
Standard power for the Wrangler comes from a 3.6-liter V-6 engine delivering 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a six-speed manual transmission, or you can opt for an eight-speed automatic. Available for all trims is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. It can only be paired with the automatic transmission.
On-Road Performance
While most drivers choose the Bronco for its off-road prowess, its precise steering, stable handling, and independent front suspension provide confident and smooth performance around town and at highway speeds. The Bronco is a pleasure to drive on the daily commute or a long road trip.
Although it offers superb off-road capability, the Wrangler’s on-road performance leaves a lot to be desired. On the highway, the vague steering often needs constant adjustment just to keep in its lane. The Wrangler is infamous for its wind and tire noise, which, along with the stiff suspension, can make long journeys tedious.
Off-Road Capabilities and Technologies
Off-roading is where the Bronco and Wrangler excel. Both vehicles offer features, such as electronic sway bar disconnect, electronic locking front and rear differentials, and low ratio gearing. However, the Bronco has additional innovative technologies that make it even more capable.
The G.O.A.T (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) feature gives you up to seven modes to help you tackle practically any driving conditions. Depending on the trim level, the Bronco features one of three HOSS suspension systems offering increasing levels of off-road performance and capability. Available Trail Turn Assist, off-road cruise control, and Trail 1-Pedal Drive all help keep you in command.
The Wrangler has a legendary off-road heritage which remains undiminished. It offers three four-wheel-drive systems with increasing capabilities and an available heavy-duty full-float rear axle that helps tackle pretty much any trail. However, the Bronco’s advanced features make it more versatile and refined.
Interior Comfort and Technology
The Bronco’s spacious, modern, and well-equipped cabin offers ample seating for five along with generous cargo and storage space. With the two-door configuration, the Bronco offers 22.4 cubic feet for your gear behind the rear seats. Folding the seats gives you 52.3 cubic feet of cargo space. In the four-door Bronco, you get a 38.3 cubic foot cargo area behind the second row, and 83 cubic feet with the seats down.
The Bronco comes standard with a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. The Sync 4 infotainment system with a 12-inch touch screen, enhanced voice recognition, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.
The two-door Wrangler seats four people, and you get 12.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, which, when folded, gives you a 31.7 cubic-foot cargo area. Four-door models seat five and give you 31.7 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 72.4 cubic feet with them folded. With the Wrangler, you have to step up to the Sahara trim and above for a 7-inch digital instrument display. You get the Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touch screen. It features wired smartphone connectivity and functions similar to those of the Bronco.
