If you’re looking for a compact pickup truck, you’re likely considering the Ford Maverick. However, with both the 2024 and 2025 models available, you might be wondering which one is the best option for you. Both are excellent choices that can deliver the versatility of a truck with the efficiency of a car. In this guide, we’ll discuss the 2024 vs. 2025 Ford Maverick specs that are the most important to know about. We’ll also make some recommendations about which model year you should choose.
Design and Exterior Changes
Ford gave the 2025 Maverick a styling refresh, elevating this truck with a more modern flair. The front got a newly redesigned grille and updated headlights. Since it wasn’t a complete redesign, you’ll still get a similar, compact profile with both model years.
There are also two new trim options for 2025: the Lobo and the Tremor. The new Lobo trim brings performance-focused styling, including eye-catching rally-inspired wheels. You’ll also get a lowered performance-tuned suspension that gives this trim 7.4 inches of ground clearance.
With the Tremor, you’ll get rugged styling and off-roading features, including skid plates and a special suspension system. If you want a 2024 Maverick with off-roading features, you can pick one that has the Tremor package.
Performance and Powertrain
Both model years offer different engine options. 2024 Mavericks come standard with a 2.0-liter engine that outputs 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. There’s also an optional 2.5-liter hybrid engine that generates 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque.
For 2025, the Maverick comes standard with the hybrid engine from 2024. The new hybrid powertrain now also has all-wheel drive as an option. In addition, you can choose the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost with 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The Lobo and Lariat trims use the EcoBoost as their standard engines.

Since there are only slight differences in the engines, both the 2024 and 2025 models have the same towing and payload capacities. You can tow up to 2,000 pounds standard or up to 4,000 pounds with the towing package. Both model years can handle up to 1,500 pounds of payload in the bed.
You’ll also find similar fuel efficiency numbers in the 2024 and 2025 Maverick. The 2024 hybrid models achieve 42/33 mpg (city/highway), and the gas-powered models are rated up to 23/30 mpg. With a hybrid 2025 Maverick, you can get up to 42/35 mpg with front-wheel drive or 40/34 mpg with all-wheel drive. The gas-powered versions achieve up to 22/30 mpg.
Interior Space and Storage
Overall, the interior and storage space are the same in both model years. No matter which one you choose, you’ll have a first row with 42.8 inches of legroom and 40.3 inches of headroom. Your second-row passengers will get 36.9 inches of legroom and 39.6 inches of headroom. The bed measures 54.4 inches long, 53.3 inches wide (42.6 inches between the wheel wells), and 20.3 inches deep. In total, you’ll get 33.3 cubic feet of cargo volume in the bed.
Interior Technology and Driver-Assistance Features
The 2025 Maverick received some new technology upgrades. Ford replaced the 8-inch touch screen with a larger 13.2-inch display that runs SYNC 4. You’ll also get standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2024 models require a wired smartphone connection.

The 2025 Maverick comes with more safety tech than the 2024 model. The new standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-keeping assist. If you choose the Lariat or Tremor trim, you’ll have an advanced adaptive cruise control system along with speed limit recognition. One new available feature is the 360-degree camera system, which can help you hitch your trailer.
Which Ford Maverick Is Best for You?
If you’re trying to decide between the 2024 vs. 2025 Ford Maverick, you’ve got a difficult choice. Both models earned spots on Car and Driver’s 10 Best Trucks and SUVs list as well as the Editors’ Choice list. Since these trucks are similar, we recommend considering price as the main factor in your decision.
A new 2024 Maverick starts at $23,920 for the XL trim. The XLT and Lariat trims begin at $26,420 and $34,960, respectively. Keep in mind that you may also be able to find used models at a lower price.
Since Ford added new standard features to the Maverick, you’ll notice that the prices increased for the 2025 model. The XL trim begins at $28,145, and starting at $30,645, you can get the XLT. A new Maverick Lobo costs $35,930, while the Lariat begins at $38,440. Finally, the Tremor starts at $40,995.
If you think the extra features and improvements are worth the price, you should consider a 2025 Maverick. Choosing a 2024 model is a good way to save money, especially if you’re happy with the features it offers.
